The On-the-Ground Impact of Social Venture Partners International

A Las Vegas real estate entrepreneur, Marty Goodman leads Henderson Properties, Inc., where he oversees a wide range of transactions. A community-focused individual, Marty Goodman has served on the Social Venture Partners International (SVP) board. In this capacity, he has traveled around the world in promotion of philanthropic activities that bring together nonprofits, donors, and social enterprises, all the while “elevating the lives of underserved teens.”

One example of a successful corporate partnership detailed in a recent SVP case study involved a marketing and business development strategist’s collaboration with 3M in Minnesota. The executive was among five young leaders who accepted an invitation to join SVP for 3 years, and had an immediate impact as part of the due diligence team.

The volunteer’s duties centered on assessing potential investees, as well as evaluating nonprofits with the potential to emerge as finalists who present at Pitch Night. This process led to her identifying a pair of nonprofits that she wanted to work with personally in developing and executing strategic plans. One of these was Breakthrough Twin Cities, which focuses on engaging students across several school districts.

Also engaging with The BrandLab, the volunteer informed new market development, as well as storyboard and metrics activities. Her efforts enabled youth participant and donor group success to be accurately tracked and measured, and also informed nonprofit expansion into new metropolitan areas.
